Traditionally served over cold, poached veal slices, tonnato is a tangy, Italian mayonnaise style sauce made with tuna, anchovy, and capers. It can be used as a dip for fresh vegetables and keto crackers, a salad dressing, a sauce for zucchini noodles, a spread for low-carb sandwiches or lettuce wraps, or anything else you can dream up.
Place the tuna, capers, vinegar, anchovy paste, and garlic cloves in the work bowl of the food processor, process on low speed until the ingredients form a rough paste.
With the machine processing on low speed, pour the olive oil into the paste in a thin stream.
When all the oil has been incorporated, add the mayonnaise, Tomato Basil Keto Chow, and lemon juice.
Process until all the Keto Chow is absorbed, and the mixture is creamy.
Transfer the tonnato sauce into a container, cover and chill in the refrigerator at least one hour to allow flavors to marry. If tonnato is too thick after chilling, thin the portion you plan to serve with more olive oil or water before serving.
Notes
*Reserve the oil to add to sauce for a richer tuna flavor if desiredOur recipes may contain links to affiliate websites, and Keto Chow receives an affiliate commission for any purchases made by you on the affiliate website using such links.
